Introduction

The purpose of this document is to provide the user step-by-step instructions to

connect to the chassis, reserve ports, and setup the test ports for traffic generation

 

Components Used

  • DUT with two Ethernet interfaces connected to Spirent ports
  • Spirent TestCenter 9U chassis with two Ethernet interfaces
  • Spirent TestCenter application software

 

Configuration Summary

  • Connect to the Spirent TestCenter chassis
  • Reserve the Spirent TestCenter ports
  • Setup the port parameters – media type, autonegotation, etc
  • Validate link connectivity

 

Test Topology

 

 

Connect to the chassis and reserve the ports

 

Step#1: Click on Tools, Setup Chassis Connections

 

 

Step#2: Add the chassis IP and click OK

 

 

Step#3: Click Actions, Connect

 

 

 

Step#4: Click Active on the ports and hit Apply

 

NOTE: Apply button must be clicked after every config change

 

 

 

Validate link status and connectivity

 

Step#5: If link does not come up, double check the Media Type and Autonegotiation settings

 

 

 

Step#6: Right-click on any of the port LEDs and use the Link or Unlink option to check if you are connected to the right port on the DUT (useful feature if working remote from physical setup)

 

 

Setup the IP address of the ports

 

Step#7: Go to the IP Config section, configure the IP address of the ports, and click Apply

 

 

Check IP connectivity with Ping and ARP status (on DUT)

 

Step#8: Go to DUT and ping the Spirent port. Next, check the ARP entry

 

 

Step#9: Go Port Setup and validate that the MAC-address from the DUT ARP entry mataches
